Jan Chmielewski has defined his own style joining traditional methods with a modern eye and message. Once asked to change an average looking leather jacket to something different, he transformed it into a striking piece of art by painting onto it an epic portrayal of the Four Riders of the Apocalypse.
Jan challenges his audience by placing his subject in unexpected situations with sometimes unsettling and mysterious results. In The Incredible Hulk, he shows the giant’s emotional side while talking to children. In another painting, a boy on a tri-cycle taunts something beyond the shadow but he cannot see what the audience can - the danger that lies a breath away. Another example depicts a winged cavalry warrior from the 16th century who is expected to be strong and fearless but comes as a sensitive gay with a pink scarf attached to his armour.

My missy mayhem daughter Aurelia is my latest inspiration. My wife and muse Sylwia brings order and meaning to my life. And a bit of heavy metal always helps to release those creative fluids!
